FromAdventureAhead To RoamwithPete

I started this journey as Adventureaheadpx. Just casual memories. After-school sunsets, weekend hikes, moments I wanted to share with family and friends, nothing more thought out than that.

Somewhere along the way the goal changed. I stopped caring about just sharing an image, and started caring about the feeling locked inside it. Now, if you show me almost any photo I've taken, I can tell you the story behind it: where I was standing, what I was feeling, why I pressed the shutter.

That's why "ahead" became "roam." Ahead only points one direction, forward. Roaming moves through all of them, and every direction I wander into becomes its own story, told through my eyes.

Beginner's luck

Just another day on my trip. The seal was deep in a peaceful nap on the rocks when a tourist wandered by and startled it awake. I grabbed a shot without thinking much of it, and it ended up placing in the AGORA Top 10. In the end, I can't explain why, I just liked the picture.

Through the Archive

Then 2020 happened, the kind of year still strange to explain out loud. Isolation set in, and it was the old photos from past trips that got me through it, going back through them again and again. Somewhere in that routine, I started to notice the tiny details, and it turned a quiet, difficult year into the start of a habit I never really dropped.

My obsession with cold, dark nights in the middle of nowhere

I'd tried to capture that mysterious dark sky before, but could never catch the one opportunity to take it all in, until this night in Idaho, far from anywhere, under a sky that felt endless. This shot exists because I didn't want to forget what that felt like, bathing in a universe that seemed to be falling all around me.

Life happens, and the eye changes with it

Between 2022 and 2025, the way I looked at things changed. I got more observant, drawn into existing and conceptual architecture, the logic behind a facade or a stairwell. My composition shifted with it too, more horizontal, closer to 16:9 film framing, and I started posting the work differently to match, a shift I'm still refining today.

An Open Chapter

And today, this is still where I am: still looking, still figuring out what my own perspective actually is. Not a neat ending, just where the story happens to be standing right now. This isn't a closed chapter. It's the one I'm still writing, one frame and one question at a time.
